I was approached by the curator of Nebraska Appleseed's annual "Art + Justice" poster series and asked to submit a design for the 2017 collection. The theme of the show that year was Root Down, Rise Up, a call to action for Nebraskans to embrace and engage in their state.
In my poster, I chose to feature the words of Nebraskan philosopher Hartley Burr Alexander, "The salvation of the state is watchfulness in the citizen." The words—inscribed upon the north facade of the Nebraska Capitol—are a reminder of the responsibility citizens have to work for a more noble life.
